Language Translation – Building the base for successful localization projects

German social games developer MegaZebra got going early in localization and is reaping the benefits.

For an online game company, it's wonderful to have fun and addictive concepts. And it's even better to be able to market them over large portions of the world's population.

German social games producer MegaZebra, which enjoys a significant presence on Facebook, started preparing its products for localization early in the...game.


In an
interview for the site Inside Social Games, MegaZebra CEO Henning Kosmack explains how his company moved forward on localization from the beginning.

When they put their first games online in 2008, they were already presented in multiple languages. This gave Megazebra a headstart on their competitors, who didn't immediately adopt a localization strategy.

We developed an in-house tool that we use for all our games that’s very efficient to localize the games. Then we have native speakers for the games we have going — for English, Italian, French, German, and Spanish — that we focus on," explains Kosmack.

"
If you start out of Europe, you focus on localization from day one because it’s a big topic here in Europe."

In an increasingly global market, localization, as well as language translation and interpretation, should indeed be a big topic everywhere !
