Language Translation – Management, Romanian-style
Have you ever thought about what type of managers Romanians make? I haven’t – or hadn’t – but the topic comes up in a recent article from Romania Business Insider.
There is much to learn from this article; even the existence of its source is of interest. English is not historically a frequently spoken language in Romania, yet Romania Business Insider appears to be a dynamic source of general and business news for expatriates, possible investors, and the global business community.
In the article entitled Romanian women leading a cross-cultural team: what are the challenges?, we learn that Romanians value personal relationships highly, are risk-takers, and work hard once deals are made.
On the more negative side, they are not punctual, and sometimes are not aware enough of “Western” business practices – but are learning quickly.
Unfortunately, the article purports to examine the challenges faced by female Romanian managers, but other than explaining that women are becoming more involved in Romania’s economy, it doesn’t enlighten us very much on that subject.
