Language Translation – GALA and ALC form alliance
The Association of Language Companies (ALC) and The Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) have announced the beginning of a joint collaboration.
Designed to provide more services and resources to members of each association, the new “ALC-Gala Alliance” is effective as of 2011.
While ALC’s 170 members are largely general language companies, focusing on translation, interpretation and language training, GALA has a somewhat more technological bent, as the presence of the term “localization” in its name implies.
Of course, these fields are increasingly interconnected; thus the collaboration seemed like a logical step. “Greater collaboration among industry associations provides more value to members while also reducing redundancy among industry groups,” explained Sandy Dupleich, president of ALC, in a joint press release.
The first collaboration effort will be joint participation in each association’s next major event. ALC will hold its “Town Hall” meeting at the March GALA 2011 conference in Lisbon, and GALA will host a speed networking session at the 2011 ALC conference scheduled for Las Vegas in May.
