Five favorite posts from 2010

It’s been a busy blogging year at Language Translation, Inc. Here’s a look back at five favorite posts from 2010.

Bloggers generally love lists, and I am no exception.

As I look forward to another year of blogging for Language Translation, Inc , I will first indulge in choosing my five personal favorite posts from 2010.

My criteria for this list: certainly not newsworthiness or reader stats, but simply the originality of the topics and the fun I had writing the posts.

  1. A look back at the dog language translator
  2. Years back, I used an article about this device in my English classes. I never forgot the text, so decided this year to check up on what had become of the product – not much, by the way.
  3. France to embrace English words, expressions
  4. This was my April Fools post. Unfortunately, it didn’t create the viral sensation I had vaguely hoped for.

  5. Motown in translation
  6. Blogging about translation and music –hey, this could be a possible New Year’s Resolution for 2011!
  7. What could be simpler than saying yes, no and thank you?
  8. Even the “simplest” words are fraught with nuances and cultural complexity. This post gives some examples from my own language learning experience.
  9. Really, really lost in translation
  10. A Language Translation, Inc staff member tipped me off to a source of mistranslations that I had not yet tapped into: bootleg DVD covers.

The entire team at Language Translation, Inc. wishes you a happy, healthy and successful 2011!
