What’s hot? How about Transfire, the appropriately named iPhone App that’s burning up the language barrier

Introducing the world’s first real-time translation app for instant messaging and chat

Have you ever wanted to chat or send an instant message and have it automatically translated into a foreign language on the other end? Well, now you can thanks to Transfire, a hot new iPhone application from the company TNT Creations.

Created by Jonathan Toplosky, 30, and his brother Elik, 25, TransFire is the first Instant Messaging App with real-time translated chat. The app automatically translates text using Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger and Facebook.

Transfire can instantly translate your chat sessions into 50 languages. When you send an outgoing chat, the app translates it into the language you have set up for your friends, which means the app will work even if the person on the other end of the chat isn’t a Transfire user.

An incoming message will be automatically translated into your default language. After your default language is selected in the app settings all the messages you receive will be automatically translated.

You have the option to use the Phonetic Transliteration features to pronounce and sound out the translated message. This might be a good way to develop your language skills as it delivers an easy way for you to read and pronounce the incoming chat. You can also have Transfire speak the message with an appropriate accent.

The Toplosky brothers have high hopes for the proliferation of the app. Future plans are to expand to platforms such as BlackBerry and Android, and see Transfire turn into a popular social network.

“What we’re really trying to create is a global network that eliminates the global barriers, and we’re hoping this is a real game changer in the social networking world,” Jonathan said.

Of course one wouldn’t want to use this app to negotiate a major business deal or to discuss a complex legal matter, since there’s always the possibility for error in any automated machine translation, but if you just want to chat casually without a language barrier, it’s definitely worth checking out.
