Bing language translator app is ready for Windows Phone 8
We recently wrote about Microsoft’s breakthrough speech recognition, language translation software that had been compared to the universal translator device seen on the original science fiction TV series Star Trek.
Well now Microsoft has followed-up by making its Bing Translator app available for Windows Phone 8 users and we’re told the word used to describe this new app is “wow.”
The app has all of the features you’ve come to expect from any language translation app including augmented reality translation (with the phone’s camera) speech/text translation (so that you can simply place your phone in front of text and translate content immediately) and an offline mode for when you’re traveling in areas without service.
According to the Bing team, the free Bing Translator app continues to be one of the most popular and best reviewed applications for the Windows Phone – already surpassing a million downloads and garnering average ratings between 4 and 5 stars since release.
“As a Windows Phone 8 user, you will also discover a new translator ‘lens’ whenever you launch your camera – allowing you to quickly access the camera mode translation functionality of the app.”
Owners of the new Windows Phone devices may now download the app from the marketplace.
