Translating Financial Statements from Around the Spanish-Speaking World into English

Marian S. Greenfield will present this 60 minute webinar in English on February 20, 2013 at 12 Noon US Eastern Time.

This webinar will provide strategies for Spanish to English translation of financial statements and auditors’ opinions. A discussion of key terms found in financial statements produced in several Spanish-speaking countries will be included.

This webinar will cover:

• Mirror imagery in financial statements

• Recognition and translation of boilerplate in auditors’ opinions

• Importance of finding parallel financial statements for similar American (or British) companies

• GAAP vs. IAS

• Resources for terminology

About the Presenter

Marian S. Greenfield, owner of M S Greenfield Translations, has worked in the language translation industry for over thirty years. Marian was Manager of Translation Services at J P Morgan, translated in New York's Financial District for 20 years and is a translation industry consultant, Trados Studio instructor and freelance Spanish, Portuguese and French into English financial translator.

In addition to offering presentations and workshops throughout Latin America, Europe and the U.S., Marian is an Adjunct Instructor of Translation at The University of Chicago and has taught translation at NYU and in the Master's in Translation Program at the University of Puerto Rico. She is a former Board Member and Past President of the American Translators Association and currently chairs ATA’s Professional Development and Ethics Committee. Marian is also a former Treasurer and Past President of the New York Circle of Translators.
