Ntrepid Corporation Issued Language Translation Technology Patent

The patent covers the technology in Virtus Translator, a natural language processing (NLP) software optimized for structured data in spreadsheets and databases.

The U.S. Patent Office has issued Ntrepid Corporation a patent covering its system for translating foreign language data in structured data sources.

The invention, awarded patent number 8,306,807, is a processor and memory system that can determine the data category of a group of isolated noun phrases in a structured data source (such as a spreadsheet or database). The system can then translate the group of isolated noun phrases from a source language to a target language using a category-driven translation approach.

“The determination of the category and the translation approach are based on the context derived from the group of isolated noun phrases,” explains Jen Doyon, one of six co-inventors and Director of Language Engineering at Ntrepid Corporation.

The patent covers the technology in Virtus Translator, Ntrepid Corporation’s natural language processing (NLP) product. Virtus’s highly user-customizable translation engine rapidly processes large volumes of data in structured data sources, providing companies and organizations with significant time and cost savings. Ntrepid provides translation modules supporting unidirectional translation from Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Persian, Russian, or Spanish into English.
